How it works

How residential dog training works

Wherever you live in the UK, booking a residential programme follows the same four steps.

  1. A trainer talking with an owner while their dog waits beside them

    Free phone consultation

A free 15-minute call, where we confirm which programme is right for your dog.

  2. A trainer greeting a golden retriever at the door

    Book your start date

Programmes start on the first or third Monday of the month. You sign the training agreement and pay the deposit.

  3. A trainer relaxing on a sofa with three dogs at home

    Drop-off day

A calm handover where we go through feeding, structure and final details.

  4. A trainer and an owner standing with two calm doodles in a field

Our home, not kennels.

A dedicated dog room in our home, air-conditioned and humidity controlled. Each dog has its own custom-built crate with a comfy bed and fresh water, and spends time in the house with our trainers, so calm behaviour is practised in a real home.

What is the difference between Precision and Mastery?

The Precision Programme is two weeks focused on e-collar conditioning and real-world training. The Mastery Programme is our most in-depth: four to eight weeks living with us, for complex or deep-rooted issues such as aggression, resource guarding and reactivity.

Where does my dog stay during residential training?

In a dedicated, air-conditioned dog room in our home, not kennels. Each dog has its own custom-built crate with a comfy bed and fresh water, and spends time in the house with our trainers.

How much does residential dog training cost?

The Precision Programme is £1,680 for 2 weeks (from £120 per day). The Mastery Programme is £3,000 for 4 weeks (from £108 per day) or £4,500 for 6 weeks; 8 weeks is priced on request. The e-collar isn’t included.

Is residential training the same as board and train?

Yes. Board and train means your dog stays with us while our trainers and behaviourists work with them every day. Ours is in our home, not kennels, and always ends with a handover so the training carries on with you.

When can my dog start?

Residential programmes start on the first or third Monday of each month.

How will I get updates while my dog is with you?

By WhatsApp, with videos, pictures and explanations. Precision: four updates (Mondays and Fridays). Mastery: three in the first week, then two a week.

Do you use e-collars?

Yes, as part of a clear, fair communication system, introduced gradually and paired with behaviours your dog already knows. We send you a link to the recommended e-collar and leads. On The Mastery Programme an e-collar isn’t a requirement: if you’d rather not use one, you don’t have to. We’ll only advise it if our trainers think it could really open up your and your dog’s world.

What does my dog need before a residential stay?

Your dog must be at least 16 weeks old, in good health and up to date with vaccinations (kennel cough not in its live stage). You provide their food.

What happens when my dog comes home?

Precision ends with a 1.5-hour handover lesson, a handover guide and WhatsApp support. Mastery includes collection day, a handover guide, two follow-up lessons and ongoing WhatsApp support.
